The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has taken decisive action against five online gambling sites operating illegally within the state. These sites, including BoVegas Casino, BUSR, Cherry Gold Casino, Lucky Legends, and Wager Attack Casino, were found to be offering a range of casino games and sports betting services to Michigan residents without the necessary licenses.
BoVegas Casino, one of the offenders, was discovered offering slots and table games without adhering to Michigan’s licensing requirements. BUSR, on the other hand, marketed itself as a sportsbook and casino but failed to provide the required consumer protections mandated by state law. Cherry Gold Casino boasted a variety of gaming options but lacked the legal authorization to offer these services to Michigan players.
Lucky Legends enticed players with promises of a “VIP experience” and bonuses but skirted around regulatory measures designed to ensure fair and secure gambling practices. Similarly, Wager Attack Casino combined casino gaming and sports betting activities without obtaining the necessary license from Michigan authorities.
Henry Williams, the Executive Director of the MGCB, emphasized the detrimental impact of these illegal operations on Michigan’s regulated gaming industry and the risks they pose to players. The MGCB investigation uncovered that all five sites were accepting wagers from Michigan residents on casino games and sports betting without the required state licensure.
Williams underscored the board’s commitment to upholding the law and safeguarding the public by shutting down these illicit platforms. The MGCB warned users of these sites about potential issues such as unreliable payouts, unfair gaming practices, and the absence of legal recourse in case of disputes.
To enforce compliance, each operator was given a 14-day ultimatum to cease operations in the state or face further legal repercussions with the assistance of the Michigan Attorney General’s Office. The MGCB urged residents to report any instances of illegal gambling to ensure the integrity of Michigan’s gaming industry and provide safe, legal, and regulated gambling options for the community.
Illegal gambling operations, whether offshore or lacking Michigan licensure, were condemned for exploiting players and jeopardizing their safety. The MGCB’s resolute stance against such activities reflects its dedication to maintaining the integrity of Michigan’s gaming landscape and ensuring a secure environment for residents seeking legal gambling opportunities.
