JDG Esports recently bid farewell to two of their key players, Ale and MISSING, as they aim to revamp their lineup for the upcoming Split 3 of the League of Legends Pro League (LPL). Following the appointment of a new head coach, Ming “Clearlove” Kai, the organization announced the departure of toplaner Ale and support player MISSING. In their places, Wink and Xiaoxu will be stepping in, introducing a fresh dynamic to the team’s roster.
The decision to make these changes comes after JDG Esports fell short of their goals in the 2024 season, missing out on a chance to compete at Worlds. The team underwent significant roster changes during the offseason, welcoming new talents such as XUN, Scout, and Peyz in a bid to elevate their performance. Despite these additions, JDG faced challenges in Split 2 of 2025, finishing in 7th-8th place and signaling the need for strategic adjustments.
Ale, who joined JDG in the previous offseason, brought individual skill to the toplane but struggled to establish strong synergy with the team. On the other hand, MISSING had been a longstanding member of JDG, contributing to the organization’s past successes. Now, with MISSING taking a break from professional play, JDG is embarking on a new chapter with fresh faces in key roles.
Wink, known for his mechanical prowess and laning skills, joins JDG as a stabilizing force in the botlane. While not a standout player, Wink’s reliability could prove invaluable in bolstering JDG’s performance. Paired with the promising rookie Peyz, Wink aims to provide consistency and support to the team’s efforts to climb the LPL ranks.
Meanwhile, Xiaoxu’s entry into JDG signifies a gamble on youthful potential. With experience across various Chinese League of Legends teams, Xiaoxu has shown promise, particularly with a third-place finish at the 2023 Demacia Cup. His journey through different organizations has led him to JDG, where he seeks to make his mark and contribute to the team’s resurgence.
JDG’s strategic overhaul ahead of Split 3 reflects their determination to reclaim their competitive edge and secure a spot at Worlds. By introducing new talents like Wink and Xiaoxu, JDG is embracing change and betting on the untapped potential of emerging players in the LPL scene. As the team navigates the challenges of roster transitions, their ambitions remain high as they strive to defy expectations and make a statement in the upcoming season.
