Are you looking at developing a sharp eye, detective styled approach on your bookmakers? This is the article for you. We’ll show you how you can find out all of the latest information, so you can keep yourself on the ball at all times.
There are quite a few ways that we’re going to go through. And just to quickly run through them, we have, Google Alerts, an RSS feed, Newsletters, Social networks and of course through the thousands of conversations happening right at this moment in forums.
But first we need to answer a very simple question. Why keep a close eye on your bookmaker in the first place, and what exactly are we looking out for anyway? Does your bookmaker take part in human trafficking that could jeopardize the operation of the company, and thus effecting your sports betting investments? …unlikely.
The reason why you’re keeping track of them is to keep informed of what’s going. Same reason why we watch the news really. Although news is just far too general to be important. I could do without hearing about how many people died driving their cars last night.
News about your bookie is relevant and important. Through keeping your ears to the ground, you’ll be able to hear customer complaints about the company, the company growth, the latest PR, social dialogue between the company and customers – and a bunch of other things.
How do we keep track of bookmakers?
Lets get into it. The following ways to keep track of the bookies can be used with anything really, it doesn’t need to be limited to bookmakers. Simply replace the keyword with the whatever you want to track.
Google Alerts
Like to be notified when content is made available from news, web, blogs, video and/or discussion groups AUTOMATICALLY through email or your RSS feed? Google Alerts is the answer for you. You need to input the search key phrase that you want to stay on top of.
Say for example you’re a member of Centrebet. Get yourself over to Google Alerts, and in the keyword phrase to look for, you guessed it, type in Centrebet. The service is free to use so there’s no excuse not to head over to Google Alerts and give it a go.

RSS Feeds
This is my preferred method, so you know it’s a good one. RSS feed software such as Google Reader allows you to subscribe to a website’s blog entries, news headlines, audio and/or video.
The different between Google Alerts and RSS Feeds is that Alerts scan the web for you and sends you information based on your keywords and with RSS you need to subscribe to a website in order to get the latest updates.
The reason why I perfect RSS is that it makes the whole process of keeping on top of things in a neat way. I log into the software (online), check what’s going on, than logout. Easy.
Like to know more about RSS Feeds? Like to bet if I’ve created a blog post about it already? You should put your money behind me on this one. Check out: How to use RSS Feeds to give you the Edge in Sports Betting.
Newsletters
This one is so easy to do. In fact, you usually you don’t need to do anything at all to get this going! When singing up to your sports betting agency, the good ones will ask you to sign up to their newsletters right there and then.
This will mean that you’ll periodically get sent a fancy looking newsletter to your email. It goes without say really, but you should be at a minimum glancing over this content and reading anything that sticks out for you. This is a great way to get the latest promotional codes as well.
If you’re not part of the companies newsletter list, get yourself on it. Visit their website and look for it. Usually it’ll be located on their home page.
Social Networks
Everyone is doing it, yes even sports betting agencies. If you’re part of Facebook, Twitter, or one of the other big social networking sites out there, try and look for your bookie.
This is a great way to stay right up to date with the latest straight from the horses mouth. I like to use this medium to gauge what others are saying about the bookie. If you visit their page, you’ll usually find some folks having a go at the bookie, or giving praise. These people are your friends.
Forums
This is where the conversations heat up. No better place to have an argument than on a forum with a whole heap of hot heads. But if arguing is not your thing, forums can still be of use to you.
Conversations going on in forums about your bookie is usually peoples opinions being expressed through a unrestrictive forum, meaning their are usually arguments and a lot of swear words, as people have different opinions.
This is good and bad. If the conversation is on topic, there is great information worth reading for sure. Although the not so good thing is that news is not happening in real time usually, but that all depends on how busy the forum is.
Forums are a great place to broaden your understanding of the sports betting industry in general, so it does server another purpose, unlike the other ones already listed above.
Well there you have it. With these tools at your fingertips there is no way a bookie can make a sound without being heard. Let me know which way is your favourite.

Thanks for the tips. I’ll start keeping an eye on my bookmakers from now on!
Google Alerts can send you notifications to your RSS reed software as well. Helps to kill two birds with one stone
Yes that’s true. I thought about writing about that in a separate post. Thank you for letting us know though
It’s excellent site, I was looking for something like this
If you do not mind me asking, exactly what are you utilizing to prevent junk comments? I noticed your blog is good and free from all the spam bots leaving comments. I have got another blog myself, and I just like to keep comment forms open so I don’t have to come on and approve them all the time, however the spam plugins I have tried are failing to prevent even the most obvious and basic spam comments. Is there anything reasonable out there that does a good job or is my only hope to keep them moderated or just simply close them all together? Thanks, Denis Fahie
